88-Note Weighted Action Controller with Laptop Support
StudioLogic Numa 88 Note Graded Hammer-Action MIDI Controller Keyboard Twenty years after launching their first 'Studio 88' MIDI controller, Fatar are proud to present their latest keyboard - the StudioLogic Numa...
Luxurious Keyboard Action Building on their reputation for unrivalled keyboard action, Fatar have been keen to raise the bar even further focussing on playability rather than just bolting on as many controls as possible. The StudioLogic Numa features the progressive new 88 Note Graded Fatar 'Grand Touch' keyboard which is the company's most sophisticated graded piano hammer action to date. An increased throw distance simulates the action of a full concert grand piano and makes the Numa feel simply luxurious to play.
Intelligent Velocity Response The StudioLogic Numa does not just feel good to play, it was built to respond better to your playing than any other controller keyboard too. Fatar have developed an 'Intelligent Dynamic System' for the Numa, which guides you through a simple process to set up the best dynamic velocity response for your playing. It is the most advanced customisable velocity response system ever developed. The Numa will memorise custom velocity curves for up to 15 different players.
Dynamic Modes There are three different dynamic modes. Dynamic Mode - Response like an acoustic piano. Notes are triggered at the bottom of the key travel and released at the top of the key travel. There is a choice of 'soft', 'medium' or 'hard' factory velocity curves or one of the 15 user velocity curves. Organ Mode - Response like an organ. Notes are triggered near the top part of the key travel, but released near the bottom of the key travel. Velocity is fixed at 127. Staccato Mode - Ideal for synthesizer sounds. Notes are triggered and released at the bottom of the key travel. As per dynamic mode, there is a choice of 'soft', 'medium' or 'hard' factory velocity curves or one of the 15 user velocity curves.
MIDI and Performance Control A standard MIDI port allows the Numa to be connected to an enormous range of instruments, sound modules and other devices for creating sound. A USB port is also built-in and this allows connection to a personal computer. When connected to the Numa via USB, a computer will receive MIDI data, and this allows virtual instruments and MIDI sequencing software to be used without the need to purchase a separate MIDI interface.
While intentionally not going overboard on controller facilities, the Numa does provide the following useful performance controls:
- Keyboard Aftertouch - Channel aftertouch allows MIDI data to be transmitted when extra pressure is applied to any key whilst held down at the bottom of its travel. Either MIDI aftertouch data or controller numbers 0-127 may be transmitted. Positive or negative polarity may be set.
- Controller Wheel - A progressively illuminated wheel may be assigned to pitch or MIDI continuous controllers 0 - 127. Positive or negative polarity may be set.
- Two Pedal Inputs - Either continuous, open switch or closed switch style pedals may be connected and used with the StudioLogic Numa. This allows use of volume / swell type pedals, sustain pedals and standard on/off footswitches. The pedals may be assigned to controller numbers 0 -127 and a positive or negative polarity may be set for their operation.
Four Keyboard Zones Up to four keyboard zones can be assigned on the StudioLogic Numa to allow for comprehensive keyboard splits and layers. There are numerous independant settings per zone: MIDI channel, key range, dynamics mode, aftertouch enable/disable, wheel enable/disable, pedals enable/disable, program change, bank select (MSB & LSB), volume, octave shift and transpose.
Easy Control System A new 'Easy Control System' has been implemented for the StudioLogic Numa. The user interface panel has been developed using touch-sensitive technology and the graphic LCD display allows for clear and efficient programming.
Stylish, Strong, Lightweight and Practical The StudioLogic Numa is built to a high-standard from semi-translucent polished ABS with an aluminium cover. This elegantly designed cabinet is strong, but of lower weight for easy transportability. The aluminium cover can be slid backwards to increase the top surface of the instrument to support a laptop computer, control surface or another keyboard. The Numa also comes with a removable transparent music stand.
